About Bioarca

Welcome to the Bioarca,

Richard Logan and I purchased this piece of tropical magnificence, located in the southern part of the Osa peninsula , in 2014. This nature reserve is 86 hectares of almost exclusively untouched jungle habitat.  The Rio Claro borders us to the south, wide, lazy and deep enough to swim, it is the boundary between the Bioarca and Parque Corcovado. This makes this land a crucial link in providing a protected zone between the park and ever encroaching human expansion.

Have you ever experienced true connection to a fully intact ecosystem?   This part of Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse, whole ecosystems left on the planet. Everyday spent on this land has been a profound experience. There is space here to find that connection to a vital part of ourselves that has been pushed away and eventually forgotten. This is a space to remember, to practice simplicity.

Richard and I have spent the last ten years creating a small , off grid, lovable space. We have planted food and medicine  bearing trees and plants in the two designated human areas. Our goal is a close loop permaculture farm that focuses on full integration into the surrounding space.  To me this means more observation than implementation, a focus on adaptability  and a mindful definition of progress.

Come join us. Let’s get our hands in the soil, creating food and connection in this sacred place. Watch the animals fly and climb, the plants flower and grow before. Spend our mornings sweating in the garden and our afternoons swimming in the river, sleeping under our favourite tree, finding our hammocks the best invention of all time.

If the stories and pictures on this website cause a tug somewhere inside, listen to that pull. We would love to share this with you.
