Administrativamente, la pen\u00ednsula se encuentra al sur de la provincia de Puntarenas. Es, junto con la pen\u00ednsula de Nicoya una de las dos pen\u00ednsulas m\u00e1s importantes del pa\u00eds.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-23bd0ee\" data-id=\"23bd0ee\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-96b6ef0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"96b6ef0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A pesar de ser una zona de extensi\u00f3n relativamente peque\u00f1a, en ella se encuentran un gran n\u00famero de h\u00e1bitats tropicales: bosques lluviosos, humedales costeros, bosques de monta\u00f1a, etc. En esta regi\u00f3n se ha establecido el famoso parque nacional Corcovado, que constituye el \u00e1rea protegida m\u00e1s grande de Costa Rica y que, seg\u00fan la National Geographic es \u00abel \u00e1rea biol\u00f3gicamente activa m\u00e1s intensa del mundo\u00bb, en realidad se trata de uno de los lugares con mayor biodiversidad del planeta. Desde la d\u00e9cada de los a\u00f1os 1970, en que se fund\u00f3 el parque, diversas autoridades costarricenses y extranjeras trabajan en conjunto para brindar protecci\u00f3n a los recursos naturales que se engloban en esta estrat\u00e9gica pen\u00ednsula.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33
