The Bioarca resides in 140 acres of primary and secondary rainforest. Access is by trail. Most of the Bioarca is protected by us as a biosphere preserve for prime tapir habitat, while 10% is managed to supply food and habitat for tapirs, tayras and other mammals including ourselves and our guests.
We need volunteers to assist with trail building and development of the organic permaculture farm, but our current infrastructure limits volunteer opportunities.
We plan to remain off-grid indefinitely, however, infrastructure is expanding. At present, we have permanent clean water on tap (ram pump, gravity feed), and an outdoor kitchen with gas stove and sink. Solar/lithium lighting. So we have good kitchen facilities and potable water, but you will be responsible for bringing your own food. You’ll need your own bedding; a sleep sheet will suffice.
The indigenous cabina can reasonably sleep 4+ persons, plus there is a large attached covered deck. An observation tower in the upper field, and the 400 sq ft maloca near the cabina provide additional camping possibilities for you. We have four mattresses and several excellent hammocks.
